Introduction
Long time since my last entry!! I have been meaning to get over here, just been busy and didn't realize it has been 4 months since my last entry!! WOW - I'm glad I didn't get shut down!
Well, I guess a major update is needed. Ryan is doing incredibly well!! He started school back in July and goes 2x a week for 3 hrs.
I was worried that he wouldn't do well with school. We have been having our problems here and there but not what I expected. For the first few weeks he had a tantrum every day after school that lasted for about 1 1/2 hrs. I think it was a huge adjustment going from a lot of activity to a little slower pace after school. I started doing the joint compressions again before school and that seemed to really help a lot and the tantrums after school have stopped.
Then a couple weeks ago he started crying when I would take him to school - not sure why but all of a sudden he just didn't want to go. I leave him with his teacher and she says within 10 minutes he calms down. One day, he hit her when I dropped him off, that didn't go over well but she set him straight - he hasn't attempted to hit her again and he is doing much better over the past week - no crying when I leave him there. I guess another one of those many phases we tend to go through with him.
Ryan has really started to blossom with his speech and his acceptability. He still has his moments but they are getting to be less and less severe. He is learning at a great rate and suprises me each day he comes home with something new he has learned.
Well, I guess that is it for my update - I wasn't prepared to sit down and write an entry but while I was looking for something else I remembered I had better get here and do it!
Until next time - hopefully sooner than 4 months from now!
Gerri
