I just wanted to update about Sean's appt yesterday. We celebrate every once he gains and grows. I am sure many wonder why, but if they only knew why, they would celebrate with us!
Sean weighed in at 33lbs, but I didn't get the height. I know he did grow some. He is finally on the growth chart both for height and weight-barely, but he is there. Dr. B seemed pleased. He did want us to increase the amount of Kindercal he gets each night.
Sean has sore arms from his kindergarten vaccinations. He wasn't thrilled and it took two of us to hold him down, but he didn't cry. Instead he screamed, OUCH as loud as he could! He also had his TB test, which the Dr said I could read and sign off on. Boy do I feel priviledged and trusted! Trust is so nice.
We discussed the behavior issues. He wants to wait to see how Sean does with Kindergarten before testing his behavior. Dr. B feels the preschool teachers are causing problems when they discipline him. They basically reward his negative behavior. SO like we do at home, they get to ignore him when he acts out. They can time out him or whatever works to keep order in the class, but not to give in to his demands. If he screams, remove him from the room and let him scream it out. They do have to watch him to make sure he doesn't get too much salivia and then choke. This morning the teachers were not thrilled with my requests, but they need to restore order, which they have told me they need. However, they seem to want me to come and do it. Wrong!
BOOKS!
We love books at our home. We are running out of room for them. Sean is into the books by Laura Numeroff, IF you give a moose, mouse, pig books. I found the tape of If you give A moose a muffin. That is all we hear in the van or where ever. Sean knows the words by heart and is picking up reading the other books. Sean likes to act out the books. So we are making sock puppets like in the book. He made a cute little moose sock puppet the other day. He used the handles off of the paper bags for antlers.
Tonight my husband and I are going on a date. The first since Sean's g-tube surgery. Ken's brother is single and has offered to watch the boys. He wants to learn how to hook up Sean and all the good stuff that goes along with it. That makes it much easier for us. Uncle Bruce is good with boys and they love him so much. He is a school teacher, teacher of the year 3yrs running! He brings things to do with them. He has been helping Paul with his math.
The boys are getting a bit stressed with each other.
Have a great weekend!
Shelly and Sean
