I am trying to update all my diaries because Sean is sick and who knows what will happen . With the way things are going and it is that time of year he ends up in the hospital, I am trying to get all my ducks in a row and be prepared for the worst, but hope for the best.
We have been told to always expect the worst, but to hope for the best. So we do. There have been times when we have been caught off guard and nearly lost Sean. Since then, we are prepared.
Whenever Sean is getting sick, his behaviour is horrible! It starts out subtle and progessively gets worse. We know the difference between a Sean healthy and sick behaviour. It was subtle last week and this week it is full blown. This is the first time though he hasn't been hording things, but has been asking, rather screaming for more of certain things. Mostly DVD's.
Other signs of trouble
Eating. Sean loves to eat and would eat all day and night if he could. Today he hasn't eaten a thing and doesn't want to eat. I emailed the Dr with an update and mentioned he wasn't eating. I hope he tells me to hook him up to the feeding pump for an all day feeding. If he isn't eating and I have this option if front of me, then I want to make sure I use it. I just have to get permission from the Dr.
Coughing. Sean is coughing more and more. He does have nasal congestion and the post nasal drip can cause coughing as well. He is starting to have a slight wheeze. Thankfully the breathing treatments help some with both the cough and wheeze.
Fever. Sean spikes fevers in the 103-4's all of a sudden. He gets purple, icey cold just before it happens, so when he told me he was cold and I saw his purple hands and feet, I pumped him with motrin and tylenol. I think I was able to keep it under control as he warmed up, but didn't spike.
Sleep. Sean gets very sleepy when really sick. He was out in a matter of seconds after I gave him the motrin/tylenol. He fell asleep on the floor and didn't protest when I moved him. Very unusual for him. He likes to be on the couch, but asked for his bed.
It is time for a treatment, so I am off.
