VICTORY!!
We had Sean's IEP(Individualized Education Program) meeting this morning bright and early at 8am. There were 11 adults present. Preschool nurse, elementary nurse, Principal, Resource teacher, Speech/language therapist, Preschool special ed teacher, preschool special education director, preschool teacher, Elementary School physcologist, and us. The OT didn't make it or make any attempt to even get a report to the meeting.
The meeting went better than expected. We had our minds made up as to what Sean would need to be successful. We didn't have to threaten, beg, plead or anything. These are the things in his IEP.
Speech/language therapy-2xs week in group setting.
Personal aide-someone who has CPR training and willing to use it. Must be willing to do meds and do a tube feeding if we come to that, which we probably will. I get to help do the interviewing. Will watch him when eating and help with some fine motor skills.
Afternoon Kindergarten-Didn't want this at first, but it would be better for Sean to be in the afternoon.
Changing OT services to Children's hospital so his hand surgeon and general Ped can check his progress. Sean's left hand is really starting to turn in. We will try for morning sessions and he can still go to school. Right now, the place he receives OT services, won't let him come to therapy if he misses school for any reason. Sad really. I really dislike them!
RSP-resources-an hour a week thus far. This is to make sure he is up to speed since he will be missing two days aweek. The teacher and I will work closely together to keep him up to speed.
3 days a week. It was to be MWF, but most Mondays in our school district are holidays-not sure why, but it is. So after we talk to the gen Ped. we are hoping to do TWTH, with monday and friday off. Friday tends to be a free day in kindergarten, so no much instruction takes place.
Sean will be allowed to eat and drink when ever he wants besides snack. His aide will be with him to make sure he won't choke or have any problems.
He will be in full inclusion, so that is good.
Everything went great and I am actually a bit excited for Kindergarten to come. His preschool teachers are not, they love him so much! We love them soo much.
Sean is having a meltdown! I had better see what I can do to calm him down!
Ultrasound****NORMAL!!!!!!
Blood work so far*****NORMAL!!!!!
HEART*****NORMAL!!!!
I really must go and calm him down!
THank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers!!!!
much appreciation
Shelly and Sean
