Camping
The boys had a blast and Sean did very well. He brought home tons of shells and rocks from the beach. One shell was still intact, so with his daddy's help, made me a mussle shell jewelry box! Best jewelry box I have ever had too!
This week Sean is a bit on the sick side. I think with all the choking/swallowing thing going on, he has aspirated into his lungs. Our Pediatrician thinks he as well. I wish I knew what our surgeon thought, but he is in China this week.
Sean NEVER naps. I mean NEVER! He didn't as a baby in the NICU. However, he does when he is sick. This week he has been napping every chance he sits down! He is fussy and has the COUGH! SO we are on alert and as is his Dr. I hope we don't need to see him this week and can wait until next week when the surgeon is back.
SO we have decided to go ahead and do this esophageal extension. Now we need a date. We are trying to head out of town for a few days with the boys after school is out and just before summer school starts for Paul. We want to go camping up in Bishop, CA. We shall see though. Surgery will take first place if so. I hope Ken will take the other boys and go while I am with Sean.
I replaced my first mickey button! Blood and guts don't bother me, however, I must admit, this made me a bit ill. Not sure why, but did. I tried at home to do it, but it won't work. So I took everyone to the clinic this morning and when I went to show the nurse my problem-it worked! My luck. I get stuck in traffic for nearly 2hrs, pay $3 for parking and then it worked! We were not even in the clinic 3 mins. I wonder what that visit cost the insurance company. Yikes.
I am on my way to do some work on Sean's scrapbook. I have a hard time working on some of the pages since I am only on the stuff from the NICU. I am thinking of skipping this part and do another stage of his life.
Oh, oh........
I am learning to let go of Sean and his care. A wonderful dear friend of mine and her husband are going to watch the boys for us Friday night. Sunday is Ken's birthday, but since it is Sunday, and we can't celebrate Saturday since we have a dinner to go to, we are going Friday. In fact they gave us a gift card to a local restraunt and to the movies! I hope Sean is well enough for us to go. However, I feel very confident if he were sick, I could leave him with them. They wanted to learn how to care for Sean and hook him up to the feeding pump and deliver his meds. SO I did. They were great and are just excited about hooking him up Friday!
This friend-"S" has been a friend for 18yrs. We went to college together. We met while working in the child labs earning our preschool degrees. She is great with children and can really relate to them. We lost contact of each other until about 13yrs ago and have been in contact with each other. She and her family moved in with her FIL a year ago. SHe lost a special needs child with similar issues as Sean about 16yrs ago. She has a son Paul's age and a boy close to Sean's age, but Sean doesn't like to play rough with him. Daniel does though! Her husband and my husband work together with the men in our ward who are young and married with young children. They have become great friends and we really treasure their friendship dearly. They also have a daughter.
Now because of their wanting to learn about Sean's care, others from church want to learn. SO I have people coming every night to learn how to do this. I had realized in an emergency, no one knows what to do. Not even Ken's parents know-they don't want to. So we shall be busy at night teaching everyone the how to's. I am very excited for this.
Now I must go. A fight has started and I have tried to bring about a truce. So far the peace talks have failed.
Stop by and check out the teens today diaries. Bridgette has joined Amanda and me in keeping a diary there.
Have a great week!
Shelly
