I would have thought they could fix the date since they updated my ttmb to the new format.
Oh well........

Sensory aversions
Sean's sensory is out of whack. He has always been timid about textured things, but lately it has gotten out of hand.
He gags when we soap and scrub him down, or if he sees something that looks gross or what appears gross to him. He was gagging after looking at a car that had peeling paint! Go figure! His new OT is working on goals for this problem. It was bad when he was younger, but we feel Sean has regressed way beyond that.
This sensory issue was a pain in our side yesterday at the beach. (we plan activities with textures to help Sean.) Sean was eager to get the water, but had to cross the sand. He went running of to stop all of a sudden. He was trying to jump out of the sand so it wouldn't touch his skin. Hard to do when you are too far from the water and the pavement-in either direction! :) He wanted me to carry him, but I was already loaded down with stuff. I told him he had to walk and just to do it! After much screaming and carrying on, he did it. He was making the funniest face ever, one of total disgust!! Ken and I laughed so hard. We sent up a chair for him, which is just about knocked over when he leaped into it.
It was time for sunblock, which just sent him running out of reach. I coated everyone and had to had Ken and Paul help hold Sean so I could rub the stuff on. Thankfully it was fast absorping! He was trying to rub it off and then tried washing it off. He wasn't successful because he didn't burn the whole 12 hours we were there.
Sean had a ball running to the water and digging in the sand. He was covered, but didn't seem to mind it even though he was grimacing in disgust at times.
Lunch time was interesting. He had just gotten out of the water and rolled in the sand, so he was covered. He wanted that sand off! NOW! A screaming fit ensure because we didn't move fast enough to get his hands clean. Every time he would eat a cracker with tuna, he would put his hands in the sand. Every time a screaming fit would happen! We tried very hard to ignore him, to calm him down to explain about putting his hands in the sand. We are ready to pack up and go home. He finally decided he had enough and went to the water to play. Now for me to eat and clean up.
He had fun playing a hole Paul dug, but refused to be buried in it. He helped bury his brothers, but he just wouldn't do it.
Every so often he would come to me and ask for clean clothes. I told him when we left for home, we would take off his clothes, shower and put clean ones on. He seemed fine with that-seemed fine. Not really.
We climbed rocks and had fun. He was able to see some tide pools with tiny crabs less than an inch long. We saw Dolphins and a sick sea lion. The sheriff's had horse to ride on and he was able to pet one.
Now it is time to go home. Ken didn't understand what I had told Sean about cleaning up before leaving, so he just threw him and started off. Boy Sean was mad and finally Ken went back, showered him and put him in, wet clothes and all. Sean wasn't happy about it, but Ken had put the clean clothes on the bottom of everything. We explained to him and after a disgusted look up dismay, he said he could handle the wet clothes. We live a short way from the beach. 15minlater he was in the tub and all clean! Very happy to be so.
Sean has been very agitated latey and driving us crazy! Everything isn't good enough or it isn't done the way he imagined. Ugh. I hope he isn't getting sick and we have been more than patient with him. On the way home, he was really carrying on about something and we had repeatly told him that everything was fine. All of a sudden, everyone, Daniel and Peter included, told him to be quiet at the same time! We had had enough! He was taken back and was quiet for awhile-long enough to be home. Silence is golden!

I am off to do search for last year's IEP. I still can not find it, which is so not like me. I really would like to take a nap while Peter is sleeping, but Dan and Sean will not let that happen!
