Shelly's Diary Entries

June 24, 2003

Supposedly the date is suppose to be fixed by tomorrow. I hope so.
6.24.04 update

We had a great time camping last week. We ended our trip a day early in hopes of getting into see Dr. B-I. Sean was having a really hard time dealing with the altitude changes on his lungs. He was coughing more and really scaring us. So Thursday we made the decision to pack up and go home. Everyone was unhappy about it, but we had to do it for Sean's sake.

Friday we packed up and made it down in an hour. We were unpacking so we could get cleaned up and to the appt. Peter had other ideas and found the rat poison we had put out for the rats. We have rats very badly and the landlord refuses to do anything. We had forgotten about it and I let Peter out to play.
So we called 911 and talk to Poison Control and the Paramedics came. Peter was evaluated and wanted to transport him to the hospital down the street. I asked for them to take to Childrens-no way. I asked if I could take him since I was going with Sean. I couldn't be at two different hospitals. Finally they said yes and we were on our ways. Dirt and all. I am sure we looked like a homeless family, but you do what you have to do.
Peter was fine and they x-rayed Sean and they said he was fine. I didn't believe them and let them know if I came back and he worse, they were going to have a complaint against them.
I emailed Sean's dr who was on call-and he wanted to him in the clinic Monday morning as well as Peter for blood work the ER refuse to do.

Monday-------Peter's blood was drawn, totally fine.
Sean was listened to by the resident and the attending. They looked at his x-rays on Friday and declared the ER were totally WRONG! His lungs were socked in and according to the report were deciding to admit him or sent him home with another round of antibioitcs. They told us he was fine and to go home. YIKES! So the Attending sent us home with a script for something I can not say or spell. Pharmacy didn't have it after waiting 24hrs to hear from them. Spoke with Sean's DR and he prescribed a drug that has stopped working for Sean, but upped the dose really high. So now it is Cleocin. I hope this works and we can avoid a stay until his surgery. He sees his Dr for his regular check up on the 8th and he will be checked then, if things do not get worse, to see if things cleared up or not. We are filing a complaint against the ER.

Other than that, not much else is new. We have been taking it easy and not going out. I don't want to put Sean at any risk and let his body heal. However, my nerves are shot and my patience is wanning. We went to Michaels and bought a few different projects that were Really easy to do and have been busy doing them between Drs appts for everyone.
Yesterday was suppose to be bird baths, but that will tomorrow instead.

We have been reading books to help pass the time away. Daniel and Sean have decided they like chapter books now for bedtime stories. So we have been reading about the Littles and The Mouse and the Motorcycle. I hope to venture to the library next week. Last time I did, it was a disaster! Sean just does not know how to whisper despite the practice! Everyone at church knows his voice!

Because of Sean's fierce temper that can go from zero to 60 in 2.5 seconds, we have given him the nickname, "FireCracker"! One minute he is a happy child and the next for some reason, only HE KNOWS, he is screaming and yelling at us! I feel my energy levels start to dip to the negative levels. We are working on him to see he doesn't need to get so upset over the little and the big things.

I have a salad to make for a potluck I am going to by myself! Our church has a women's group that meets each Sunday for spiritual learning and then once a month to learn something to help us become better wives and mothers. This month we are learning crochet and knit. I had learned when I was young, but didn't get it. I bought some thing and found that I could understand it now. I can't wait to crochet something for someone at Christmas. The knitting I will learn, but I think I will stick to crocheting.

Until next time, Have a super week!
